Flu season is now upon us. If you are over 65 or have any of the below conditions you are eligible for a free flu vaccination.
You are eligible for the flu vaccine this year (2017-18) if you will be aged 65 and over on March 31st 2018 – that is, you were born on or before March 31st 1953. So, if you are currently 64 but will be 65 on March 31 2018, you do qualify.
Children and adults with an underlying health condition (such as long-term heart or respiratory disease)
Children and adults with weakened immune systems
If in doubt on any of the above, please visit the flu vaccination section under clinics & services. Alternatively, please contact the surgery.
We will be running walk in clinics on the following:
Shiremoor - 10th October 8:30am - 5:30pm
Longbenton - 19th October 8:30am - 2:00pm
Please be aware we will also be running children clinics and pre bookable appointments for flu vaccinations once we have completed the walk in clinics.
Patient Online Services
GP online services allow you to access a range of services via your computer or mobile. Once you have signed up, you will be able to:
- book or cancel appointments online with a GP or nurse
- renew or order repeat prescriptions online
- view parts of your GP health record, including information about medication, allergies, vaccinations, previous illnesses and test results
The service is free. Everyone who is registered with a GP can have access to their practice's online services. For more details on how to register, please visit the patient online services section under the further information tab located on the right hand side of the Page.
Shared Decision Making
Making decisions about your care with your doctor or nurse (shared decision making).
When you visit your doctor’s surgery you will often find that there are decisions to be made about your health and the treatments that might be available to you. This includes when you are choosing between different types of treatment or different ways of managing any condition(s) you have. When these decisions are made it is important that you are part of that process, so that you are able to come to the best decisions based on what is important to you.
For my information, please see the Shared Decision Making page under further information located on the right hand side of the page.
Paracetamol On Prescription
All of our patients who are on repeat medication are expected to have medication reviews at least once a year. These can now be done by our new practice pharmacist, Karen. If you have more than 7 medications on your repeat prescription, please book a double appointment.
By the end of June 2016 all patients (including Children) will be assigned a named, accountable GP. We will be informing patients of their named GP during the year by various methods or you can contact the practice if you wish to find out who your named GP is.
If you have a preference for your named GP please let us know and we will make every effort to accommodate this request although you can see any doctor at the practice and not just you’re named GP.
Surname A - M will be assigned to Dr C Chapman
Surnames N - Z will be assigned to Dr R Keogh
We would like to take this time to inform you of all our regular Doctors we have at Earsdon Park Medical Practice.
Dr Rebecca Keogh, Dr Claire Chapman, Dr Rahul Saraf and Dr Sarah Redford.
